From Wrench to Blade
This knife started its life as an old pipe wrench. Instead of letting an old tool go to waste, I wanted to take it and give it a completely new life. The wrench jaw was forged, ground, and heat treated into the knife you see here while still keeping a lot of the original markings and character of the tool.
The blade is made directly from the original steel jaw of the pipe wrench. This is a hardenable tool steel, but it is important to understand that it is not a modern steel specifically designed for making high quality knives. Because of that, I look at these pieces as being more about the history, craftsmanship, and transformation of the original tool.
The goal was to keep as much of the wrench’s original character as possible while turning it into something completely different.
An old tool given a new life.
