San Mai Coop
The Coop is a one-of-a-kind hunting and skinning knife, forged with history and performance in mind. This blade is crafted using a traditional San Mai construction — a three-layer forging technique — combining the toughness and beauty of different steels into one exceptional tool.
The outer jacket layers are made from wrought iron, sourced from a piece of 1800s musket barrel, carrying a rich historical story into every cut. Sandwiched between them is a high-performance core of 80CrV2 high carbon steel, delivering outstanding edge retention, durability, and cutting power where it matters most. The distinct transition between the ancient iron and modern steel is visible along the blade.
The Coop’s design is purpose-built for hunting and skinning. Its blade profile offers excellent control and slicing ability, ideal for field dressing and processing game with ease. The full-hand grip handle, shaped from dense and richly patterned ironwood, provides a natural, ergonomic feel in the hand — durable enough for rugged outdoor use, yet elegant enough to be an heirloom piece.
Upon purchase, I will personally reach out to discuss your preferred sheath style. You can select either a custom-fitted Kydex sheath for a lightweight, modern carry option, or a handcrafted leather sheath for a timeless, traditional look — both built specifically to match your carry needs.
